WOOOOOOO!!!!!

Post by MaidenOZ »

YAY thank you Dante!!!

Hi guys long time no see.

The old computer died, I forgot my password which was saved on it, and coz this forum is all Finnish and my Finnish is still....well....pretty bad, I couldn't work out how to retrieve it.

But the wonderful Dante was able to help me out and here we are.

My GOD I can't tell you how insane it is down here in Oz right now! MAIDEN ARE COMING!!!!! AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!

Now, a little birdie told me that a few of you will be traveling to our fair shores in February so I'm here to help with whatever you need
If you have any questions about Australia, just ask.... if I don't know the answer, I'll endeavor to find out.

I'm from Melbourne so my information for Sydney and Brisbane will be 2nd hand as the last time I was in those 2 cities was more than 24 years ago.

So,
Next week a friend and I are going to Rod Laver Arena to take some photo's which I can post up here if you'd like. I will also be popping into the many backpacker hostels in the city to take some photo's for you (if they let me) and I'll get some quotes on accommodation prices for you, and give a review of what I thought of each one whether it's worth the money or not etc.

Be aware people February in our country is VERY HOT. It is the hottest month of our year. So you may want to plan your trip to arrive a bit early to acclimatise yourselves to the heat factor.

I remember when we were in Helsinki for The Early Days concerts, many locals were telling us you guys were having a heat wave with temperatures up around 28-30 degrees Celsius. Well, be prepared for it to get a bit HOTTER. 28-30C in Feb for us IS A RELIEF

I've missed you guys... and my husband and I still have days when we just look at eachother and say "God I miss Finland, wish we could go back"
But we're still paying the bank back for another 2.5 years, so we can't come back just yet.

But.... I can't wait to see those of you who are coming down here. You can come join yourselves up at our Aussie Maiden forum you're more than welcome....the website address is in my profile. We're already getting meetups organised. If you're regularly checking the IMOC you may already know about the Melbourne one at The Corner Hotel.

So there we have it, hope to see a SHITLOAD of Finns in Oz next year.
if you've got any questions...ask away. And just a heads up.. if you plan to hire a car from the airport....we drive on the other side of the road down here

Oh, and you might want to check out http://www.bestflights.com.au for airfares. They were pretty cheap compared to others when we flew to Finland, only downside is it took 3 planes, long stopovers (16 hours in Bangkok) and a total of 43 hours to get there

I wish I had the money to go to Australia, but I´m a student so I don´t have that kind of money. I´ve always wanted to visit Australia and/or New Zealand.

Well... If I don´t come there for Maiden, then someday I´ll come there just for fun.

Hello!

Great to have you here!
I want to say BIG thank you already for offering help. That will be big relief!
My mind is still quite mess after ticket sale so I'll ask help when something pop into my mind. I haven't start planning yet. Have to wait first will my boyfriend get days off from work. But I'm quite sure he will :D
Can't wait to see you too!

I have to say that I'm already very scared about the heat. I'm suffering when the heat gets over +26 so I'm afraid how I'll survive of those gigs.

 My god those names bring back some memories HAHA!!!

I remember going to see Bestial Warlust play at the pubs back when they were called Corpse Molestation

We had Dave Slave stay at our place one night while they were down here in Melbourne for a gig.... strange...very strange young man  But a lot of laughs.

Did bands like Earth and Blood Duster ever make it over there? Or Christbait?

OH SHIT!!!!

Sorry not trying to spam up the board here but I've just heard a 2nd show in SYDNEY has also been announced just now as well!!!

They just went on sale about 5 minutes ago. 11am our time.

Apparently there's been such a huge demand there are heaps of people who literally lined up at the venues around the block trying to get tix when the 1st ones sold out so they immediately put the 2nd shows on sale right away.

One poor kid got up to the front of the line only to find the 1st show in Melb had sold out and he started crying. poor lil bugga.
He'd be a happy wee chappy right about now though :D

Now I've gotta find some way of getting those 2nd Sydney tix as my c-card is totally SPENT.

Cheers MaidenOZ,

I would like to thank you already with all the help you have provided!

We definately need to meet up!

I just woke up a bit hangover after yesterday´s Nightwish gig, so I couldnt get Gold floor-tickets to second night in Melbourne. If you know somebody who has any spare ones, I´d be more than happy to buy the

Cheers!

I also missed out the sale 'cos last night's Dream Theater gig and driving back to Tampere from Helsinki. So I got on the internet just this morning.
I thought that my credit card was empty but luckily there was enough to get two gold floor tickets to Sydney.
I'll wait what will happen with Melbourne and try to sort out tickets later.

Yeah its a shame about the time difference those tickets went pretty fast.

I think there are still some silver seats left for the Melbourne gig but definitely no floor left. Unless you try ebay but those bastards are asking ridiculous prices.

Silver seats still won't be too bad at Rod Laver though. If you can imagine Hartwall Arena and reduce the upper section by at least half that's about how big the place is.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find any good pics on the net of the seating at a concert. There is mostly only pics of what it looks like during the tennis.

THERE IS ONE OTHER OPTION YOU MIGHT LIKE TO TRY FOR GOOD SEATS.

There's a place here>> www.showbiz.com.au

They are a legitimate business dealing exclusively in preferential seating for concerts, plays etc.

Their ticket prices are a little higher, about an extra $40-50 AU, but they should still have pretty good tickets available. They MAY even have some gold floor or at least gold seating. They charge more because they get you the good seats.

BTW that trip to the city to check out the backpackers in Melb has been postponed until next Monday as the friend I was going with wasn't feeling well this week.

So hopefully by mid-late next week I should have some information on cheap accommodation available to give you.

Good luck everyone still trying for tickets. Give those showbiz.com.au guys a try and see what you come up with.
