Van Halen on kierrettyään 1,5 kk aika mukavasti jo esittänyt harvemmin kuultuja kappaleitaan aina silloin tällöin. Unchained on näköjään vaihtunut pysyvästi aloitus kappaleeksi You Really Got Me:n sijaan. Romeo Delight ja The Full Bug vuorottelevat päivästä toiseen samoin kuin Outta Love Again ja Girl Gone Bad. Kerran tai harvoin tähän asti soitettuja ovat Mean Street, Women In Love, Hear About It Later, Hang ’em High ja uusimpina Blood And Fire (ensimmäistä kertaa uuden levyn esittämätöntä materiaalia) sekä Jamie’s Crying. Ja eiköhän sieltä piakkoin tule soundcheckissä veivattu Light Up The Sky, ainakin toivossa on hyvä elää.

Tällä tavalla sitä pitää yleisö yllättää. Jo sekin, että kuulee yhdenkin harvemmin soitetun kappaleen sillä keikalla, jolla itse on paikalla palkitsee keskivertoa ankaramman fanipojan. Tällaista tapaa voisi Irmakin harrastaa, vaan ei kun ei.

Van Halen riidoissa - yli 30 keikkaa peruttu

Jenkkirockin ikoni Van Halen on perunut 31 konserttia, jotka oli kaavailtu pidettäväksi ensi kesänä Yhdysvalloissa. Yhtye ilmoittaa asiasta kotisivuillaan.

Van Halenin tiedottaja vaikenee peruutuksien syystä. Rollin Stone -lehden mukaan bändin jäsenet ovat ajautuneet rajuihin riitoihin keskenään.

Yhtye käynnisti comaback-kiertueensa helmikuussa.


Van Halen Postpone 31 Concert Dates

Van Halen have postponed 31 dates on their 2012 North American tour. The postponed shows were to run from July 7 in Uncasville, CT through Sept. 25 in Milwaukee, WI.

No official reason has been given for the postponements, and there’s no word yet on when the rescheduled dates will be announced.

(Note that these dates have been POSTPONED, not canceled. Several shows on Van Halen’s 2007-2008 were postponed as well, and all were ultimately rescheduled.)

Jaahas. Alkaa kuullostaa tutulta ... Melkein elättelin toivetta Euroopankin kiertueesta ja mahdollisesta Suomen keikasta . Taas Davella ja Eddiellä sukset ristissä otaksun?

No voi vittu, taas tätä. Eipä näytä Eddielle ja Davella pelaavan vaikka aluksi muuta väittivätkin. Viime aikoina on kyllä Eddien vähistä lausunnoista rivien välistä välittynyt, että Van Halen on nimenomaan sukunimeltään Van Halenien bändi. Itsekin aloin jo toivoa Euroopan kiertuetta, mutta taisi sitten olla tässä.

Kun henkilökemiat ei pelaa niin ei pelaa. Harmi, kun noinkin hyvän levyn saivat tehdyksi. Mitään Euroopan rundia en tosin odottanutkaan.

"Hauska" clippi. Elekää nyt turhaan panikoiko. Kun kiertuelistaa katselee, Daven lausunnossa on luultavasti perää. Tulee eittämättä mieleen Iron Maiden ja Powerslave-kiertueen hullut lisäbuukkaukset, jotka ajoivat koko porukan hulluuden porteille. Nyt taisi managementti tehdä aikataulut pelkät dollarinkuvat silmissä, valitettavasti. MITCH MALLOY’s VAN HALEN Audition Tape Posted Online
Most VAN HALEN fans are unaware that during the summer of 1996, the band auditioned singer Mitch Malloy to replace Sammy Hagar. Surprisingly, one track from Mitch's audition has leaked online. Check it out in the YouTube clip below.

Mitch Malloy told the story of his day at Eddie Van Halen's 5150 studios to MelodicRock.com: "A guy who worked for their management at the time used to be my road manager and he kept calling me and telling me they were going to fire Sammy and that I was going to be the next singer in VAN HALEN and he was calling and calling and finally I got annoyed by this and told him to stop and that I didn’t think I was a good fit in VAN HALEN and that if he was serious he should have Ed call me. A week later, Desmond Child calls me and says he has just left Ed's house and was writing with them and that they were talking about me and that they were watching my 'Anything At All' video, and that he told them that I was perfect for them, and that they would be lucky to get me, and before I knew it, I was on a plane to L.A. Ed did call, a bunch of times. He was great."

Mitäköhän Eddie tuumaa näistä Davidin viimeaikaisista haikailuista, että Michael Anthony tulisi takaisin poppooseen. Voisin kuvitella ettei hirveästi Eddie diggaile, mutta VH fanit kyllä sitäkin enemmän jos tuommoinen full reunion toteutuisi.

David Lee Roth recently gave a lengthly interview to Rolling Stone and says he wants co-founding bassist Michael Anthony back in VAN HALEN.
Apart from the Sydney appearance and a trio of Japanese shows in June, the band remains in a state of limbo. Last summer, VAN HALEN backed out of 31 North American dates, citing exhaustion, and then Eddie Van Halen was sidelined for four-to-six months after undergoing surgery for the inflammatory intestinal affliction diverticulitis.

Roth was pretty candid in the interview about the state of the band, especially on the prospect of coming up with some new songs, explaining, "I would certainly look forward to working with Ed on some new material, but we have yet to do that. Almost all of the music that you hear on our most recent album was written and demoed before the first album. . . I'm not sure what's in Ed's mind at this point. I'm gonna guess that his plans are to write with his son, and I'm not sure where that actually leads. But truth be told, Edward and I haven't written a new song in 20 years."

Roth went on to say that there is no game plan for VAN HALEN on the horizon. "There's nothing on the ticket as far as travel, and that's a disappointment, frankly," he said. "How long have I been back with the gang? Maybe six years, we'll say and we have yet to travel to Europe, South America, Japan, anywhere outside of those basic 50 cities in the United States. And again that's been a disappointment. We have an audience and we have a potential future in many, many places. . . And I don't know where the VAN HALEN future lies aside from the States. We'll always be able to play our hits — and keep in mind we have more hits than Beethoven, we have more hits than Tony Soprano — so getting onstage and playing that is glorious, and certainly getting onstage with the brothers will always be an excitement for me. But in terms of taking the music past where we found it, I'm not sure where that's going to go."

Roth touched upon the touchy subject of ousted bassist Michael Anthony replacing current bassist — and Eddie Van Halen's son — Wolfgang Van Halen, from here on out. "But Ed has his own vision, I'm assuming," he said. "We haven't really been able to speak about it and it's a disappointment, just as not having a chance for a reunion of the original band. Clearly, vocals are every bit as much a component of success as a rhythm section or a guitar solo. . . what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever — that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in EARTH, WIND & FIRE, as identifiable as the high voice in the BEACH BOYS. VAN HALEN is an indelicate house blend of both — that's intentionally."

He went on to say that he's pitched some ideas to help light the creative spark for the band. "So I would always look forward to that reunion, and I would always look forward to writing a whole variety of material," he said. "I've offered the fellows, come on out here to the land of the gods. And if you don't want to make it that far we'll make it halfway — Konishiki (Roth's friend and former champion sumo wrestler) has said he'll lend me his house in Hawaii, Let's go woodshed. But so far there hasn't been any response, so hope and faith are not actual tactics and strategies — they're strippers from Albuquerque."

Triple M: Eddie, is it true your dad gave you a shot of vodka and a cigarette when you were 12-years-old to help combat nerves?

Eddie: "Yes, to help calm my nerves. Worked for him and worked for me for a lot of years, but those days are over now. I quit smoking and quit drinking about five or six years ago. There goes the neighbourhood!"

Triple M: Alex, you are an ordained minister?

Alex: "I don't promote it but I don't deny it. I'm in a rock band so you have to take everything with a grain of salt."

Triple M: VAN HALEN are actually the band KISS without makeup?

Alex: "I think we're much better looking."

Triple M: Is it good to have Diamond Dave back in the band?

Alex: "It's like you walk into the studio and we haven't been together for a while and there's this overwhelming sense of 'coming home.' That's the best way I can describe it."

"All the time we were apart was if it hadn't existed and we picked up the fisti-cuffs right away. It's like a pair of jeans that just fit right."

On having Eddie's son Wolfgang in the band for the past seven years, after repalcing original bassist Michael Anthony in 2006:

Eddie: "Of course, it's exciting, and he keeps us young."

Alex: "It's good to have a different perspective on the music we recorded 35 years ago. We're really happy the music has stood the test time and I think having a different generation involved with it gives us a different perspective."

Joo-o, välillä pitää aina muistuttaa itseään että Hagar on tosiaan jo 65-vuotias(!), ajoittain häntä luulisi kyllä about 10v nuoremmaksi. Eihän hänen ääni ole enää aivan priimakunnossa, mutta voisin kuvitella että tuo laulutyyli on melko kuluttava, joten siihen nähden vetää edelleen ihan hyvin livenä.
